I grew up in Toronto fully planning to become a chef. I was actually gearing up for a culinary program that would take me to France, right up until I got my first computer at 14. Turns out, the drive to build my own art and layouts totally wiped out my desire to move to Europe and bake the perfect soufflé (though I still definitely enjoy smoking a brisket for 18 hours).
Fast forward a bit, and I've spent my career sharpening my craft alongside some incredibly talented people. I've had the chance to get my hands dirty on everything from massive global campaigns to highly crafted, one-of-a-kind local projects. My approach to the work is pretty straightforward: good design should be simple, communicate instantly, and capture exactly what a brand is all about without overcomplicating things.
The only side effect of doing this for a living is that I've developed a deep-rooted obsession with typography. I take bad kerning way too personally and point it out to my wife wherever we happen to be. She sometimes calls it annoying. I call it dedication.
